The long version

Words have always been the thing I come back to. Reading them, reshaping them, noticing when they work and when they don’t.

For fifteen years I worked in government, writing policy documents, strategies and reports. It wasn’t glamorous work, but it taught me things that most copywriters never learn. How to distil genuinely complex information into plain English, how to structure content so it’s easy to follow, how to present ideas clearly without losing the detail that matters. I became very good at writing things that needed to be understood.

What I didn’t have was work that felt like mine. So after fifteen years, I walked away. I came back to the thing I’d always known I was good at, writing, but this time on my own terms, for businesses I actually care about, on topics that genuinely interest me.

That’s how Nineteen Copywriting came to exist. The name is my birthdate. I chose it because I like the way the word looks. For someone who cares deeply about how words sit on a page, that felt like reason enough.
